About DynoChem

DynoChem is a unique set of tools for process characterization, optimization and scale-up, based on first principles of chemical engineering and physical organic chemistry and application of the scientific method.

It provides a framework for visualising and sharing process information, pooling knowledge between chemists and engineers, design of characterization experiments and development of process understanding. The starting point in many projects is a process scheme, as shown below for a hydrogenation reaction. This helps to identify important scale-independent and scale-dependent phenomena and provides a focus for both experiments and modeling.

Characterization and prediction

Some phenomena may be characterized based on prior knowledge, while others require specific new experimental data. DynoChem includes tools for quantifying solubility, kinetics and equipment characteristics such as heat transfer, mass transfer and liquid mixing. Knowledge of these phenomena allows predictive optimization and scale-up. This approach is also used for troubleshooting, allowing problems to be examined from several angles to identify a solution.
